Hi people I am here to tell you guys about my amazing trip to visit the Oakland mayor, Jean Quan. I went to visit her with my Washington DC group, we went on March 1st, 2011. We all went because we wanted to share with her our thoughts and ideas. When we got there we had a 45 minute conversation with her about different topics, such as immigration rights, gang injunctions, education and money issues. She told us about what can we expect on our trip to Washington DC and many more things. Jean Quan was very nice and she had many ideas to help our community and her perspective about things were very good. After that she took us to see her office, it was amazing! We also went to the City Council of Chambers it was really cool seeing were they have their meetings. In my opinion, I believe that Jean Quan seemed really straight forward about what she wanted to do to make Oakland a better place with less violence. Meeting the mayor of Oakland was an amazing experience for me. But the trip was not all serious, Mr. Guikema also took us to Panda Express it was very delicious, me and Linda Garcia shared the food. I will never forget that day.

SB-1070
Something I strongly disagree with is the law they made in Arizona, SB-1070. I disagree with this because I believe that it is not fair for police to go up to people and ask them for their papers. I hope that the SB-1070 law will never pass in Oakland, CA or in any other state. One reason I disagree with this law is because the police is invading people's privacy and space. I think that's wrong because people are taken by surprise. Another reason I disagree with this law is because many families struggle a lot with money problems and jobs. If they get sent to their country they won't be able to help and support their families. Some families will also face a stage of depression. They will pass through that because one of their loving family members got sent to another country. For example, if it was a father who got sent to another country his kids would live a life without one of their parents. I hope this law will be canceled very soon. I believe there should be a type of vote to see if they can cancel that law.
